Christian Books for Kids of All Ages (perfect for Easter)
Books are my go-to for Easter. I love to give them something special, but I like to keep it simple and focused on what we’re celebrating. Here are several ideas for kids of all ages for gifting books this Easter.

Bibles + Devotionals:
Easter is probably the most appropriate holiday to gift Bibles to kids, so here are some of my favorites for a variety of ages.
- The Jesus Storybook Bible (suggested ages 4-8) – this is my absolute favorite children’s Bible! Each story ties back to Jesus, weaving a beautiful narrative of the gospel. (Also available in a special Gift Edition.)
- Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing (suggested ages 6-10) – 101 devotional style snippets by the same author as The Jesus Storybook Bible.
- The Action Bible (suggested ages 9-11) – It’s a comic style Bible with 215 separate stories in chronological order. We’re using this one for our boys right now, even though it’s rated for slightly older. (Also available: The Action Storybook Bible for younger kids and a devotional.)
- The Biggest Story: How the Snake Crusher Brings Us Back to the Garden (suggested ages 5-12) – Colorful illustrations and a weaving narrative help tell the story of the whole Bible. Suggested for 5-8 for reading to kids and 8-12 for reading on their own.
- Jesus Calling: 365 Devotions For Kids (suggested ages 8-12) – 365 devotional for older kids. This has also been recommended to me several times.
- CSB Kids Bible, Hardcover (suggested ages 7-12) – This is a full Bible with colorful “extras” to help kids dive deeper into sections of the Bible. The type is large enough to make it easier for kids to read the Bible themselves, and at the end of passages, there are cross-references to help kids dig in and study for themselves. Jesus’ words appear in red. I really like the look and readability of this Bible! (I received this Bible for free from the publisher.)
Books for Babies + Toddlers:
- Holy Week – A board book that tells the story from Palm Sunday to Easter by describing associated emotions.
- Found – This is a board book that focuses on Psalm 23 from the Jesus Storybook Bible.
- First Bible Basics – This board book uses numbers to introduce major Christian theology to really young kids. 1 God, 3 Persons of the Trinity, etc.
- Psalms of Praise – This board book uses different postures (kneel, stand, etc.) to talk about praising God.
- The Beginner’s Bible The Very First Easter – A very affordable paperback, this is the Easter story as told in The Beginner’s Bible.
Books for Preschoolers:
- The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross – This hardcover picture book has tons of great reviews! It tells the story of Easter and has bright, vibrant illustrations.
- A Max Lucado Children’s Treasury – Includes 4 bestselling picture books that each illustrate a Biblical truth.
- God Gave Us Easter – This is a hardcover picture book about polar bears. The mama bear explains what Easter is all about.
- He is Risen: Rocks Tell the Story of Easter – Using rocks to make art, this book pictures the story of easter.
Books for Grade Schoolers:
- Jesus, God’s Only Son – A paperback Level 2 I Can Read book.
- The Week That Led to Easter – This paperback is part of the Arch Books Series. It’s good to read to younger kids, but older kids will be able to read it themselves.
- The World Jesus Knew: A Curious Kid’s Guide to Life in the First Century – A hardcover book that explores the culture of Jesus’ time and place.
- Bible Infographics for Kids: Volume 1 and Volume 2 – These books show amazing facts from the Bible in colorful infographics.
- Indescribable – 100 science devotions from Louis Giglio. (Shhh – this is what our boys are getting this year!)
Great List and at the perfect time Denise! I have been looking at all the different books at there trying to decide what to get the boys for easter, and which ones would be the best for each one! Hope all is well and may God bless you and your family. ❤️
Hey Heather! Thanks for stopping by! I feel like it’s been FOREVER! Hope you and your family are well!
