Beauty {Five Minute Friday}

I recently upgraded my camera, which has reminded me of the way and reasons that I first started photographing. As a kid, I walked in the woods and photographed whatever struck me as interesting. What I was really doing was looking for beauty in the ordinariness of a simple walk.
I’ve written of the focus of camera-in-hand many times — the way it gives me eyes to see and forces to take in my surroundings with deliberateness, with a dogged determination to find something worthy of exposure.
And I must say that I never walk away with an empty memory card.
It seems that if we want to find beauty, it’s there. We simply must go out and look, making the time to actually see it.
The details on a red stick against the bright white of sunlit snow and the blue shadowed snow.
Sunlight highlighting a snow-stooped branch.
The bend of a stream…
…and the flow of a waterfall.
The way the snow falls when a breeze hits.
And the way nature is filled with it’s own dogged determination – a vine twirling around a branch, leaves clinging on through the winter.
If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, than we have the power to behold it whenever and wherever we are. We only must look.
Hi Denise, what a beautiful post. I enjoyed your photos. I can relate to seeking beauty, instead of waiting for it. I didn’t link up today, but I blogged an interview with a kindergarten teacher📚
I’ll have to go read your interview – thanks for reading and sharing!
Very welcome dear! I am going to follow you, too 🙂
